"This painting is made using a color scheme inspired by temperature- the blue cold of the city against the red of the bulls - as always bringing the heat! I aimed to create a abstract painting that is an homage to the bulls by infusing the silhouette of the Bulls mascot with the symbol of concentric circles, also known as the bullseye. I've been thinking about the parallels between sports, art making and generally living life. To hit the bullseye literally means to hit the center of a target- whether that be a basket, a goal in life, or a milestone. Concentric is from the Latin word concentricus, from com ("together") plus centrum ("center" or "circle"). Concentric things have a center in common - much like the people who live in this city- a love for Chicago."
