This print series was conceived in effort to celebrate Rose’s professional accomplishments as well as channel his personal interests. The dimensions of these prints were selected to be 12” x 12” to follow the dimensions of a record sleeve to credit Rose’s affinity for music --each design acts as its own Best-of-Derrick-Rose collection, marking milestones in Rose’s career as well as capturing his legacy as a Chicago-icon. 

To bring this print to the next level, we made the red inks in these prints out of real roses – purchased from Chicago Flower Exchange, a family owned flower shop  in Bridgeport. Hundreds of roses were dried over several days, ground into a powder and then steeped and condensed to extract their pigments to be used as the reds you see in these images.
